There is no job which is too small, Or large ! Even if you only require a Picture hanging, a light switch replacing or leaking tap repaired, The hourly cost remains the same (Please view the Rates page for more information).

We cannot guarantee that any job will be completed within a certain time limit, as there are a number of things which may affect the overall time taken. We can give an estimate as to how long we think it will take, but, depending on circumstances, other factors may affect this.

An example of this is as follows:

We were called by a customer who said that his living room light switch had stopped working. He said that It had been working intermittently for several weeks, and sometimes ‘buzzed’ when the light was on.

We estimated that this job could usually be completed easily within 1 hour. We explained to the customer that if there were any other small jobs he required doing, he could have them done to fill up his hour. He could not think of anything at the time, but booked us for an hour anyway saying that he may be able to find other small jobs by the time we came to do the job.

When our handyman removed the switch plate, he discovered that the wires were burnt and damaged. This had been caused by one of the wires coming lose in the fitting, causing the current to ‘Arc’ across the contacts. The fault had generated a lot of heat and subsequently melted the insulating sheath both on the individual wires, and the main covering. We had no option but to replace the wire in the wall. We had to lift up a floorboard in the room above to access the wires.

Overall the job took over 3 hours. Our customer was very pleased with the job done and realised that he had been very lucky that the fault had not caused a fire. Our handyman explained to him, that no matter how small a fault might seem, it is always best to get them checked out at an early stage.
